Protektor is a generic form of Frontline. It contains 0.25gm Fipronil.
Indication
For the treatment and prevention of tick and flea infestation on dogs and cats.
Method of Administration
Spray the entire body of the animal, and apply from a distance of approx 10-20cm. Apply against the lay of the hair and make sure that the entire coat of the animal is wetted. Ruffle the coat, especially in long haired animals, so that the product penetrates down to theskin. Allow to dry naturally. Do not towel dry.
Dosage
In order to wet the coat down to the skin, depending on the length of the hair, it is recommended that a minimum 3ml per kg body mass (7.5mg of active material per kg bodymass) to short haired animals and 6ml per kg bodymass (15 mg of active material per kg bodymass) to longhaired animals be applied.
Residual Effect
Protektor spray has a residual effect of 1 month (3-5 weeks) against ticks and 2 months (1-3 months) against fleas, depending on the parasite challenge in the animals environment. Protektor spray may be used on pregnant and lactating female dogs/cats and on unweaned puppies/kittens.
Route of Administration
Mechanical pump spray for external use. Each trigger application of hte 100ml bottle gives 0.5ml spray volume.
A practical guide to treatment with Protecktor
Protektor 100ml (equals 0.5ml per pump action).
For cats and small dogs up to 10 k (or 22 pounds), use 6 pump actions per kg, eg; 24 pump actions for animal weighing 4kg (or 8.8 pounds), or 48 pump actions for an animal weighing 8 kg (or 17.6 pounds)
Note: Up to twice as many pumps may be needed in long haired animals or for control of ticks.
Properties
The formulation contains a coating agent producing a film which makes the haircoat appear glossy. Neither rain nor shampooing affect the duration of effect of Protektor on ticks and fleas.
